Organic Orchard Growing Olives

Following perfect, gentle rains, our plan is to begin hand harvesting for olive oil mid-November.

Here is, for this year's crop, a photo journey of our orchard taking us to almost-ready.

Full on blooming was in mid-May.

In early June the set of beginning olives was seen inside the blossoms.

Then by mid-June the blossoms dried up and the little guys that will become full on olives were easily seen.

And now, September 21, 2010, the still maturing, non-irrigated, loving the rain when it comes, olives look really good.

Hint from Olivia of Olives: Never trust the sight of a beautiful olive and bite into it if it hasn't been cured!!
